Oundle Coaching is set for a bright future, and our junior players are given the best opportunity to shine at their level.
This season we launch our new academy set up, and after three years of work going into the design of a structure, season planning and developing a new approach to a player centered talent programme. Andy Key (Leicester, Leeds and Leicester Lions) has helped construct a set up that allows players of any level to approach rugby and be the best version of themselves. Oundle has always produced good players, and the current success at 1st Xv level is under pinnned from players graduating through our ranks.
Oundle as a club want to make that more sustainable, and make sure even players that move on to representative and higher level rugby, are supported and recognised early enough to equip them with the skills, mental strength and technical ability to thrive.
The structure is
Junior Academy - U13 to U15 - Learning and Developmental stages, installing key basics (Oundle DNA)
Academy - U16 - U18 - Technical and Game Understanding, preparing for Senior Rugby
Senior Academy U19 - U23 - Senior development structure, potential academy contracts.
President Peter Croot said "This is a much needed development, and young players will thrive as we not only develop them, but we elevate our coaching standards with involvement from the senior set up and a purpose for each key stage. I'm looking forward to see our numbers, talent and performances grow."
We are looking for new players, keen to develop not only their own skills, but understanding of the game and their roles in a team.
